NovaTris recently facilitated a train the trainer programme for (future) tandem tutors that gathered teachers and staff members of the European Alliance EPICUR. This contributed to the Alliance’s objective of promoting multilingualism.
During two days online in November 2021, participants had the opportunity to discover and experience the tandem language learning method. They practiced tandem as participants and discussed the definition of objectives as well as main principles, conditions and advantages of the method.
A second two-day session took place on-site at Université de Haute-Alsace (UHA) in Mulhouse on March 31st and April 1st, 2022. This allowed participants to meet each other face-to-face for the first time.
Participants received a training guide, which gathers contents related to the training and ideas for tandem activities.
In addition, this session allowed participants to test themselves as trainers by facilitating a tandem activity for the rest of the group. Moreover, tandem accompaniment was further discussed through case studies and debriefing phases. Time was also dedicated to concrete project work with the aim of developing new linguistic tandem programmes in partners’ universities.
The opportunity to make new connections has been particularly appreciated by participants and will be of help for their future tandem projects.
